Synopsis:

A greengrocer at the Mercado de Abasto is in love with Paulina, another market vendor. She is with another man, an irresponsible player, who abandons her after having a baby. The greengrocer helps her, and one day, he suffers an attack, it seems he is going to die, and offers her to marry "in articulo mortis", so she can inherit.
