El portón de los sueños

The film mixes the fiction and the documentary in a cinematographic style outside the conventional, to narrate a poetic adventure to the encounter of the mythical universe of the writer and the Paraguay of yesterday and today. Augusto Roa Bastos, the greatest Paraguayan writer and Cervantes Prize 1989, author of "The thunder among the leaves", "Son of man", "I the Supreme" and "The prosecutor" among others, returns from exile and undertakes a geographical trip and at the same time oneiric to Iturbe, his childhood town, looking for the land and the characters of his literary fictions to write his novel entitled "Contravida". The writer thus participates in a dual condition: as an interpreter of Paraguayan reality and as the protagonist of his own imaginary universe.
