For years the Swiss photographer Jean-Claude Wicky traveled to Bolivia to photograph the world of miners. When he returns to the country with the book that illustrates his work, his reactions are so extraordinary that he decides to shoot a movie. Black and white photographs alternate with fi lmed sequences to bring the viewer to the depths of the earth where the miners face the rock and dialogue with the Uncle (the devil). They tell their harsh reality, but also their dignity, their pride, their nobility and their customs.
Warning: Some images of animals can hurt sensitivity. Viewer discretion is advised.
